The TerraMar Project is a nonprofit ocean conservation organization on a mission build a global community around our shared ownership and love of the ocean and the high seas. TerraMar’s dynamic platform offers lesson plans, a daily digital newspaper called The Daily Catch, and the opportunity to become a dual citizen of land and sea by signing up for a free Ocean Passport amongst other initiatives that encourage engagement and interaction. The TerraMar Project is also fortunate to count some of the biggest names in ocean conservation as friends and supporters including Sir Richard Branson, Dr. Sylvia Earle, Dr. Enric Sala, National Geographic, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, and the Ocean Elders amongst many others. The TerraMar Project actively supports initiatives that have a direct impact on ocean health and local communities whose livelihoods depend on the ocean, such as the Aeolian Island Preservation Fund. TerraMar believes one of the most effective tools are no-take Marine Protected Areas, places where commercial fishing is banned. The TerraMar Project also works to reduce plastic pollution and clean up plastics in the ocean, and is concerned about the impact of climate change not only on our seas in the form of ocean acidification, ocean warming, and rising sea levels, but to life as humanity knows it.”
