The collaboration with Healthy Seas and Ghost Fishing goes on although the team left the island. The presence of a large ghost net of about 80 meters recently lost in Vulcano, particularly dangerous for marine life, had been reported.
A group of volunteer divers from Diving center La Gorgonia, Lipari Diving and Saracen Diving Vulcano, with the invaluable support of divers of the Coast Guard of Messina, together with the fishermen of Lipari from the Puglisi family recovered the net, where crabs, lobsters, cuttlefish and scorpion fish were caught, some were still alive and have been released into the sea. The team worked together to achive a common goal: protect the Aeolian sea and its inhabitants!
We remind you all that it’s possible to contact us if you see any ghost net or if you want to get rid of old fishing nets.
